What is it all about
Electric Shocktopus is a game about magnetic fields and electromagnetism. The game takes complex concepts such as the right-hand rule, the Biot-Savart Law, and Coulomb's law, and spices them up with fast-paced puzzle-platformer gameplay. Its storyline and hectic mechanics make sure players stay entertained, but its puzzles strictly adhere to the laws of electromagnetism. Through play, students naturally accumulate knowledge on the subject.
The game is easy and fast to pick up and play between classes or as an after-school activity. The in-game voltmeter encourages experimentation: students can do their own tests and calculations on different magnetic fields. The game’s level editor provides endless possibilities for both teachers and students to make their own magnetic puzzles or demonstrate different concepts of magnetism.
Ideas for classes
Home use: Learn the basics of magnetism in a fun way.
Junior high school: Introduce the concepts of electromagnetism to students.
High school: Recap physics concepts.
Prepare students to take on new concepts before discussing the theory behind them in class.
Use the Voltmeter to freely experiment with magnetic fields.
Have students create their own game levels and apply fresh concepts in practice.
